Jamie, thus far, the facts that you cite can indeed be explained by circumstance.

5G is all the rage these days, so obviously the biggest tech companies in China will be developing it. And of course the biggest companies in China will be targets for a trade war.

Is China ahead in terms of 5G deployment? I don't know. I do remember the days of 4G, when WiMax and ClearWire discovered that being the first wasn't necessarily a guarantee for success.

China is definitely a global player in 5G development, but I don't see them as anything more than a tech competitor. Plus the reputation of the Chinese government is going to impact them negatively. People all around the world don't like being spied upon. That's an inconvenient truth for any government out there, but especially so for China as a rising superpower.

Just because Trump isn't consistent with his views on tariffs and trade wars doesn't mean there is an underlying conspiracy here. You need to provide more conclusive evidence, not data that can easily be dismissed by normal tech trends.
