A bombshell investigation by Mother Jones found that President Donald Trump may have invented a loan to avoid paying income taxes on nearly $50 million. The potentially bogus loan is connected to the Trump International Hotel and Tower project in Chicago that began in 2005. One expert on real estate finance told Mother Jones the scheme is "pretty brazen" and that if Trump "didn't actually buy the loan, this is just garden-variety fraud."
