“We the Living" is the film classic based on the semi-autobiographical novel by Ayn Rand. The movie was produced in Italy during World War II, then banned and nearly lost forever. It stars Rossano Brazzi ("South Pacific") and Alida Valli ("The Third Man"). The film was recently released on a special edition DVD which includes all the scenes that were deleted at Ayn Rand's request and notes on why she wanted them removed. The bonus disc also has a 35 minute documentary that tells the story of the film's rediscovery and restoration. A rare interview with "We the Living"'s producer is featured. More about the film and the documentary at www.wethelivingmovie.com which includes a link to buy the DVD.

We the Living is the debut novel of the Russian American novelist Ayn Rand. It is a story of life in post-revolutionary Russia and was Rand's first statement against communism. Rand observes in the foreword that We the Living was the closest she would ever come to writing an autobiography. Rand finished writing the novel in 1934, but it was rejected by several publishers before being released by Macmillan Publishing in 1936. It has since sold more than three million copies.
