Yes. Yes I have.
After Donnie announced he was running they crawled out from under whatever rocks they had been hiding under and tried to invade my facebook page.
Allow me to explain.
I had never been online, had a computer, or knew what “social media” was all about until a few years ago, I just didn’t care. And then I went to the library with a friend. I sat down at a computer terminal and made the mistake of pretending to type away at the keyboard.
The librarian, who may have liked me, sat down and asked what I was trying to accomplish. She might have liked me or she might have just wanted to make sure I wasn’t destroying the equipment.
Anyway, I got a tutorial. Soon I was floating around “cyber space”. I went to facebook - signed up - and looked up my kid to surprize him. (boy was he surprized)
And, for the next year or so I used facebook to screw around with my kid and send messages and see his posts. He was in his mid-to late twenties and hardly used it. I had two or three “friends” - my kid, and a couple of his friends he grew up with. They were kind of my friends too since they became adults. (most of them turned into fine Men)
Then a couple people that I went to high school with “friend requested” me. I hadn’t heard from them in years and didn’t want to, so I ignored the pleas.
Then, a couple of guys who I hung around with requested. One was one of my best friends since childhood who had moved away, and I accepted.
I was still naive. I should have looked over their “friends lists” first. I got more requests and accepted a couple more.
Then the flood. Every offensive, hate filled post and “meme” you could imagine flowed in. So, I commented.
I didn’t know how to post things, I didn’t know how to do anything except write in the “what’s on your mind” box - so I did that. And commented on their posts.
And boy did they get angry! I got into arguments with people I hadn’t seen in twenty five and thirty years! They told me how much I had changed!!!!
Nope. They did. Or - they hid their vile racist bullshit when we were younger. I have always been the same.
I cannot and will not be a racist, and I’ll tell you why.
I told this story to a guy named Barry Soetoro in 1986 (I remember because my ex was a week or two from giving birth).
Ray Charles.
I saw Ray Charles on the Mike Douglas show way back when, and Mr. Douglas asked Mr. Charles if he had any animosity or grudges or anger over how he was treated as a black Man in years past, and Ray Charles responded with, “I ain’t got time for any of that stuff!” And I was floored.
I was raised in a racist household. But, I never could understand it. And when Ray Charles responded like he did - it all fell into place. I, me, Paul Rozewicz, I ain’t got time for any of that stuff.
That’s the way it’s always been for me - I have not changed.
These hate filled Donnie’s Dopes kept flooding my page with “Bikers for Trump” and all the other garbage, and I kept responding (Bikers for Trump banned me! The twerps.) And, I learned how to post “memes” and take screen shots, and post them, and how to post news stories and post them with my commentary - to the public. And all those intollerant, hate filled twerps “de-friended” me and ran away with their tails between their legs. Good riddance.
My opinion (and I could be wrong, I still don’t really know how it all works), but - my opinion is that their other “friends” were seeing it and reacting in ways that they didn’t like. I hope so.
So - yes. I have met Donnie supporters. They are bullies and twerps and racist losers, who are afraid of the light of day shining on them.
Shine light on them that they may dry up and blow away.
