Spring Snowstorm Sweeps Across Katoomba, Australia

Residents of the Blue Mountains in New South Wales, Australia, woke on Tuesday, September 17, to a spring snowstorm.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, snow was starting to fall on the Great Western Highway at around 6 am local time.

Weather reports varied widely across New South Wales on Tuesday – forecasters predicted wind gusts and heavy rain across Sydney. On Monday, a bushfire was burning in Drake and officials warned residents to take shelter as the blaze approached.

According to news reports, temperatures in Sydney dropped 7 degrees Celsius in one hour on Monday night.
