So, those young journalists are self righteous true believers, brainwashed to see the light... yes, that’s a faith that constantly gets reinforced - and is hard to lose.

Can’t recall where I read it - or heard it... but it’s said that sometimes, for a real change in a society to occur, the carriers of the current, dominant belief system must live out their lives - and die off. Since we are talking about young people, that may take a long time.

That’s what happened in the USSR. During the middle and late 1930’s, Stalin eliminated an entire generation of true believers - the aging revolutionaries, the true bolshies. The survivors kept quiet and learned to pray to God. Later, after WWII - and various disappointments due to government abuse and a dysfunctional economy - little by little, there were hardly any believers in Marxist imagery in the country... everyone knew it was bullshit, even if they had no choice but to repeat (in public, not in private) whatever the Politburo said, and to participate in Party rituals.
