Oh sure. It isn't really stupidity, though. It is propaganda. If you notice, it is common for them to refer to Darwinian evolution when they speak on the subject. This accomplishes two things. For their base, 'Darwin', 'evolution' and 'descent from apes' are inextricably linked. So it is using emotionally laden language. In addition, that allows them to attack the weaknesses in Darwin's original theories and pretend it applies to the concept of evolution as a whole.

Which is why I find it so amusing to see i-node echo the same. I doubt if he is being intentional duplicitous, I think he has just been so deeply submerged into the wingnut echo chamber that such things are deeply ingrained.
