Can you say something good about Donald Trump?

Patrick Jones, M.A. Political Science & History, North Carolina State Wolfpack (1979)
This really troubles me. I was raised with the admonition that if you can not say anything good about someone, do not say anything at all. I sincerely regret that I will not be able to adhere to that age old adage in the following narrative. Mr. Trump is the most irredeemable narcissist I have ever seen in my life, and since I am now at the 70 mark, I have been around for quite awhile.
I feel like I am constantly beating a dead horse when talking about this sorry excuse for a human being. He is a liar and a cheat. He is a misogynist who uses women for his carnal pleasure. He demands loyalty from the people around him but offers none in return. He acts like a spoiled entitled toddler who has never been disciplined in their life.
He blames everyone except himself for any setback he has to endure. He is a bully who will openly humiliate others regardless of their handicap or situation. He has no empathy for others but expects sympathy for every little slight he is forced to suffer through. He respects no boundaries whether personal or professional. He ignores one of his children because she does not have the appearance he demands of those around him. Yet, he makes suggestive remarks about another one of his daughters.
It is obvious that his own wife has difficulty acting as a loving spouse in his presence. Almost every adviser who has left his employment have nothing but derogatory comments to say about him. He threatens legal action against anyone who attempts to investigate his past actions or accomplishments.
He is an overtly vain man. He obviously has a weight problem but lies about it and expects people to ignore the evidence that is right in front of them. He has attempted to hide the fact that he is losing his hair by using a hairstyle that looks ridiculous. He has somehow achieved a skin tone that resembles a pumpkin, but refuses to just age gracefully. I am not saying that a person should not try to achieve a youthful appearance, but his efforts are laughable.
I believe it was Socrates who made a statement that the individuals who seek power the hardest are the very individuals who should never acquire it. I am paraphrasing, but the sentiment is important. Mr. Trump's main goal as President was to undermine every action that was accomplished by President Obama. He also wanted to establish contacts that would allow him to construct new hotels that would extend his credit base. Being President has allowed him to make inroads with certain individuals that he could never have hoped to entertain prior to his holding office. He can now offer considerations that make these investors much more likely to concede to his offers in return for favorable political considerations.
All evidence considered, we have a self centered individual who has no interest in serving the American people. He is out only for the benefit of Donald Trump, and it is thoroughly demoralizing that so many people have fallen under his veneer of competency. Why people will support an individual like Mr. Trump is beyond me. I am fairly confident they would not tolerate this bombastic fool in their private lives for any period of time.
Hopefully we will be able to enlighten our conservative colleagues and open their eyes to the dilemma that Donald Trump is leading this nation into. He is an unmitigated and irredeemable narcissist who needs to check into a retirement home and leave the public discourse to people who actually care about our country, children, and citizens. |
