HI Doug,

Yesterday while at my favorite watering hole, my friend who works for a statewide vegetable canning company told me the crop's yield is 10-15% low - ( including the lack of acres actually planted ) for those who did venture to get in a crop- the yields are actually holding up quite well.

From my novice observation, there were 10-15 % of fields not planted. Almost every one of those not planted fields were not in shape to risk buying seed and fertilizer.

Subsequently those farmers took insurance for that season.

That then allows them to plant winter wheat this fall in those barren fields. Winter wheat is viewed as a "next year crop".

There will be a larger acreage of winter wheat planted for next year.
