People in the army have recently lost their entire career over having consentual sex with recruits.

Should the Commander in Chief be treated differently?

No. The "rules" are wrong in both cases. One's private life should remain private. Absurd that an officer should be barred from becoming head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff because he'd had an "affair" fifteen years earlier when he was SEPARATED from his wife!! And then there was the woman, a single mother, again separated but not divorced, who committed suicide because she was "caught" having a relationship with someone not her quondam husband?

All this is revolting. As long as what you're up to doesn't affect your job performance, it should be your business and no one else's.
