Q3 2019 Contest update
Biotechs had a dismal quarter significantly trimming YTD performance. At Q3’s close, the Contest median was up 1.86% YTD (vs. up 21.91% YTD at Q2's close), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 2.76% YTD (vs. up 12.63% YTD at Q2's close) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 5.83% YTD (vs. up 21.90% YTD at Q2's close), while the Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) was up 20.56% YTD (vs. up 20.66% YTD at Q2's close).
At Q3's close, BULBA’s portfolio was still in the Contest lead with a 77.91% YTD gain. ANDRE’s portfolio, up 44.00% YTD and ARTHUR’s portfolio, up 38.14% YTD, were in second and third place.
At Q3's close, 21 of the 39 Contest portfolios were in the green, while 18 were beating the NBI and 17 were beating the SPSIBI. The 167 Contest stock picks had an average YTD gain of 6.94% and a median YTD loss of -2.20%.
