Esteban keep thinking out loud these are all good points... and this is something you have to get a feel for obviously (as indicated on the site) " Wouldn't you expect an upside reversal based on poor follow through of impulse 2 and complete retracement of 2 by 2a?" I have to cogitate more on all of this. But in regards to the above statement.... forget about time periods for a minute...and look at the 5 minute candle chart (dont be your technical self for a minute...look at it with just a raw eye). Lets just think basic and then build all your technical eyesight onto it... Alternation cycle: strength followed by equal period of weakness(or weakness of market followed by equal period of strength...)see quote below... just a simple eyeball of chart without thinking of time....shows this in terms of opposite direction but never really higher 1 was strong....1a was almost as strong..but not quite as strong impulse/reaction 2 was weak BUT 2a was just as weak.....(supportive lunch move albeit weak) impulse/reaction thinking then that the trend would contine down for the day .... what would happen if 1a was stronger, 2 wasnt there....or 2a was stronger...well these are things we have to watch... but I do think we have something to intrigue us, Oh Spanish one... and now lets find out how to trade the patterns...(assuming we can figure them out...LOL) "Futures traders are well aware of the SP alternation cycle. 90 minutes of strength is said to follow an equal period of weakness.
