You are generalizing. There are many Leftists, such as myself, who have achieved great success and possess no resentment whatsoever toward those who are successful. However, I do despise corporate America because of the favorable tax treatment they get from Government, especially from Republicans. Fact is this country has already been destroyed. Take a look at the dwindling middle class since the election of Ronald Reagan. Their salaries have remained stagnant whereas shareholders have made a fortune. I saw the handwriting on the wall back in 1981 and threw all our discretionary income into the stock market. So, I profited big time and came out ahead. However, I never lived in a corporate cocoon; I serviced many who were middle income and experienced their pain and financial struggles. Although I cannot condone what took place in Portland, I can understand and sympathize. There is so much abuse and disrespect that some can take.
Healthcare companies rack up record profits at the expense of people who cannot afford their medication and treatment and many as a result end up dying.
Enough is enough. I want things reversed. Call me a socialist if you like, but I want socialized medicine here. Competition is nice, but when the majority haven't participated in the wealth of this country, it's time for change. And most people here are ready for real change. Warren represents real change and it's change for the better. Your capitalism leads to an oligarchy where the few profit and the majority suffer and struggle. And there is no need to go to the other extreme. Extremes are not good. Socialized medicine doesn't mean a country is becoming socialist. All it is doing is valuing the health of its citizens. The same goes for free college tuition for children of middle income families earning under 125k a year. You want to call that socialist too, go ahead. I call it giving equal opportunity to everyone to succeed without carrying a load of debt for most of your life. I am no idealogue. Certain aspects of capitalism are good; other aspects, if pushed rigidly to an extreme, are deadly. Although I don't condone it, I don't blame the people in Portland doing what they did. You think Socialized medicine and free college tuition for middle income will bring America down. I think America is already down and needs to be raised up. Every country is different. This is not Cuba. Warren is not Castro. |
