pat mudge on Jan 22 1998 6:58PM EST [Asian jitters] Jeff -- I understand why you're nervous about Asia, but my hesitation in stepping to the sides is two fold: one, I'm expecting a lot of press surrounding ComNet, and two, there's a lot of money still on the sides waiting for the first sign of a rebound. I am very nervous in several aspects: 1. I have been through enough thick & thin (mostly thin) w/ Ascend since Sept. my fault however. Now, I am beginning to realize some gains from my investment and now there's all this market turmoil. 2. As you say, anything can happen in respects to when ASND will shoot up. Its not wise to be afraid on the sidelines. I believe the market has gambled correctly in assuming .22-.23 estimates would be met, thus the run from 24-30. Now, we will crawl our way to 36 on bits of news...contracts etc until 98Q1 earnings. Given the anxioty of this Asian crisis no one wants to be vested heavily now. 3. I was in my brokers office in Dallas that Oct morning '87 when the last crash occurred. Its better to save 100% then to loose 1/2 your earnings in a day. Because the following day you will double your money in little time. Caution and fear are the only things that will get you out of the market. I love the game and find it very hard to stay out. I was 90% out yesterday and today. I should have stayed out of Asnd again today just can't help myself. Its ok to miss a few points now and then....timing is everything, I just don't see the big 6+ jump in Ascend unless a buyout evolves anymore. If the market rebounds tomorrow we could squeeze a couple of points. If it happens I'll take my $5K profit and think about finding a place to sit a few days.<g> Jeff
