Two words to make you happy: Obama out.

Two more: It's Friday.

ITEM 1: The Wall Street Journal reported, "The Seven-Year Auto Loan: America’s Middle Class Can’t Afford Its Cars."

Oh?

From the story, "That means monthly payments that last well past when the brake pads give out and potentially beyond when the car gets traded in for a new one. About a third of auto loans for new vehicles taken in the first half of 2019 had terms of longer than six years, according to credit-reporting firm Experian PLC. A decade ago, that number was less than 10%."

Cars last longer. This is not 1983. I am driving a red 2010 Mustang GT convertible.

Also, my house needed a new roof before I paid off the mortgage.

From the story, "Car loans that are increasingly stretched out are a pronounced sign that some American middle class buyers can’t afford a middle-class lifestyle."

If you "can’t afford a middle-class lifestyle," you are not middle class.

ITEM 2: The Wrap reported, "Clint Eastwood points a stern finger at FBI investigators and the media in the first trailer for his new fact-based drama 'Richard Jewell,' which explores the security guard who reported finding an explosive device at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics — and then was falsely accused of planting it himself.

"Paul Walter Hauser (I, Tonya) stars as Jewell, joined by Kathy Bates as his mother; Sam Rockwell as his attorney; Jon Hamm as the lead FBI investigator and Olivia Wilde as Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter Kathy Scruggs.

"'They want to fry you,' Rockwell’s attorney tells Jewell as the trailer suggests that FBI agents and the media pushed a false narrative of his culpability.

"'Jewell fits the profile of the lone bomber, a frustrated white man who is a police wannabe who seeks to become a hero,' Wilde’s reporter says at one point, while Hamm and another investigator press Jewell to make incriminating statements on tape 'to clear your name.'"

Jewell saved lives.

A good lawyer saved Jewell.

The actual culprit was an abortion-clinic bomber.

ITEM 3: The New York Post reported, "Robert De Niro routinely subjected his longtime employee to creepy and abusive behavior, including leaving her voicemails threatening 'you’re f—ing history' and calling her a bitch and a brat, an explosive new lawsuit charges.

"Graham Chase Robinson says for years she was the victim of 'gratuitous unwanted physical contact' from the Oscar winner, who also hurled 'sexually-charged comments to her' when she worked at his production company, Canal Productions Inc.

"Robinson’s allegations against the 'Taxi Driver' star are levied in a lawsuit filed Thursday in Manhattan federal court for gender discrimination and wage violations.

"She said she began working for Canal Productions in 2008 as an executive assistant and 'forced to resign' in April after rising to the position of vice president of production and finance.'"

He's a fountain of Trumpenfreude.

He's 76 and making bad movies. Eastwood is 89 and headed for Oscar No. 14.

ITEM 4: Breitbart News reported, "Wednesday night’s episode of South Park took Hollywood to task for meekly allowing China to censor its movies and TV shows in exchange for reaching that huge Asian audience and their money.

"In the episode, Stan Marsh is approached by a Chinese film company when his heavy metal rock band begins turning heads. The Chinese filmmakers say that they think his group is the next big thing in music, and they want to make a biopic about the band’s beginning.

"Stan agrees and soon the band is filming its story with the help of a Chinese film company. But at nearly every turn, Stan and his band find the Chinese censors telling them what they can and can’t say, especially when it comes to describing the United States as a land of freedom."

When was the last time Hollywood held a Free Tibet concert?

And they all side with Red China in the trade war.

ITEM 5:

ITEM 6: CNN reported, "A Virginia doctor convicted in May of illegally prescribing more than half a million opioid tablets was sentenced Wednesday to 40 years in a federal prison, according to a federal court in Virginia.

"Joel Smithers, who was convicted of 859 counts of illegally prescribing drugs, had faced between 20 years and life in prison, the Department of Justice said in a news release."

This has a better impact on American life than anything Democrats in Congress have done since January.

ITEM 7: Channel 4 in San Francisco reported, "The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Wednesday sent a notice that San Francisco is violating the federal Clean Water Act.

"Last month, President Trump warned of a potential violation notice, saying the city was allowing needles and human waste to go through storm drains to the ocean -- an allegation denied by city officials.

"EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler also sent Gov. Gavin Newsom a letter last week alleging waste left by the homeless in San Francisco and other cities was being improperly handled."

Four years ago, Poca, West Virginia, spent millions to separate storm sewers from sanitary sewers to prevent poop from flowing into the river in a flood.

San Francisco washes poop into its storm sewers.

If it must be a haven to bums, the city should at least set up porta-johns.

ITEM 8: One year ago today, the Wall Street Journal said in an editorial, "The media sometimes profess to be puzzled that more than 80% of Republicans across the country tell pollsters they support Mr. Trump despite his personal flaws. The Never Conservatives are the reason, and the assault on Judge Kavanaugh is the latest showcase of their methods. Republicans have figured out that if the left can willfully, even gleefully, destroy a man as distinguished as Brett Kavanaugh, they can and will do it to any conservative who threatens their grip on power.

"Republicans are well aware of Mr. Trump’s excesses and falsehoods. But they have also come to understand that the resistance to him isn’t rooted in principle or some august call to superior character. They know Democrats nominated Hillary Clinton in 2016 despite her history of deceit. Voters know this is about the left’s will to power by any means necessary.

"Republicans across America can see, and certainly their Senators voting on Judge Kavanaugh should realize, that the left hates them as much or more than they loathe Mr. Trump. Conservatives understand that, for the American left, they are all deplorables now."

As we go through this insipid impeachment, I hope the editors bear that in mind.

Not for President Donald John Trump's sake. He will prevail. But for their own.

ITEM 9: NPR reported, "MGM Resorts International has agreed to pay up to $800 million to settle thousands of liability claims stemming from the 2017 mass shooting in Las Vegas, lawyers announced Thursday, almost exactly two years after the massacre.

"On Oct. 1, 2017, a gunman on the 32nd floor of the MGM-owned Mandalay Bay resort rained bullets on a crowd of people at a country music festival, killing 58 and injuring hundreds.

"Lawyers representing survivors and victims wanted MGM held liable for negligence because the shooter was able to enter the hotel with luggage that held an arsenal of high-powered, assault-style weapons and thousands of rounds of ammunition."

Officials have never released the gunman's motive.

They are working on it almost as hard as O.J. is looking for Nicole's real killer.

ITEM 10: The BBC reported, "Climate change activists' plan to spray fake blood on the Treasury did not get off to the best start.

"Extinction Rebellion protesters used a hose from an old fire engine to spray 1,800 litres liquid at the 100 year-old building, but they quickly lost control of the powerful water jet.

"Protesters say they are 'highlighting the inconsistency between the UK government’s insistence that the UK is a world leader in tackling climate breakdown, and the vast sums it pours into fossil fuel exploration.'

"The Met Police said five men and three women had been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage."

The video is a hoot. They know how to use a fire hose about as well as they know ecology.

ITEM 11: Breitbart News reported, "National Health Service (NHS) staff should ask transgender and non-binary patients whether they want to be treated on male or female wards.

"New NHS guidance stipulates that hospitals should accommodate transgenders 'according to their presentation' — i.e., 'the way they dress and the name and pronouns' they use. It adds this does not depend on whether they have legally changed their gender and 'may not always accord with the physical sex appearance of the chest or genitalia.'

"The guidance, entitled Delivering Same-Sex Accommodation, reiterates those who have undergone transition 'should be accommodated according to their gender presentation. Different genital or breast sex appearance is not a bar to this.'"

A reader said it won't be long until someone identifies as both male and female.

But the real news is that the British still have hospital wards. In America, people get private rooms.

ITEM 12: Market Watch reported, "Telsa Inc. shares were slammed on Thursday, after weaker-than-expected third-quarter deliveries prompted at least one downgrade and plenty of downbeat analyst commentary."

Demand for electric cars is running out of gas.

ITEM 13: Fox News reported, "The Crime Prevention Research Center says there are now nearly 19 million Americans with permits to carry a concealed handgun – an increase of 1.4 million, or about 8 percent – from around this time last year."

This comes despite the fact that no permit is needed now in 16 "constitutional carry" states where you do not need the state government's permission to defend yourself.

I wish that pansy Beto luck in disarming all those people.

The media keeps thinking it can grow by moving to the Left. That's suicidal.

ITEM 16:

Nice to see Bill O'Reilly moving on and succeeding. That is what you do.

ITEM 17: Media-ite reported, "Joe Biden’s third quarter fundraising numbers are out. And they are an ominous sign for the former vice president’s 2020 candidacy. According to Bloomberg, Biden told donors at a fundraiser in Palo Alto, CA that his campaign raised $15 million in the period from July-September. That number is down markedly from the $21.5 million he brought in during the second quarter. Biden’s third quarter haul also, notably, lags behind that of two of his rivals. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) brought in $25 million over the past three months, while South Bend, IN Mayor Pete Buttigieg raised $19.1 million."

President Trump and the RNC raised $125 million.

Impeachment will do for President Trump's campaign what Obama did for gun sales.
