pippin, who did you think Dr. I was? Could you fully trust a person who hyped a stock with such anonymity? There are employees of companies on these threads, but why would they divulge inside information especially in such large forums. First, they wouldn't need to. If earnings were off, the numbers will move prices plenty for them to make money. Second, with this advantage, why take on the additional risk of being reprimanded by the company or worse questioned by the SEC. I doubt the annonymity afforded to people through SI would withstand any illegal activities. Plus their posts don't exactly disappear; I think several people allowed Rocky to realize that.
I was, however, curious to know if an employee thought, but didn't know for a fact, that their company was going to beat or fall short of estimates, would it be illegal to make statements regarding earnings? I assumed they would only be reprimanded by the company, but was unsure. On the other hand, IOM did meet the .45 E for the year, undiluted.
