Rarebird,
I think you and I have identified the problem correctly. You say, "Fact is this country has already been destroyed." I agree with this statement. But then you go on to say, "Your capitalism leads to an oligarchy where the few profit and the majority suffer and struggle." This I do not agree with. This capitalism we have is NOT my capitalism. In fact, what we have in the US now is no longer capitalism at all. We are a majority Socialist country already. Most of what is wrong with this country is due to Socialism. Our health care is NOT a free market health care system. It is most accurately called a Fascist health care system. Our laws were written by the corporations and passed by the Congress members who they made rich, Hillary included, as well as other families like the Oxycontin family that was made into billionaires.

I believe the root cause to the malaise in this country, the real and deep root cause, is the Federal Reserve. Through money printing and devaluation, which comes in many forms (QE, low interest rates, etc), they have guaranteed three things: 1) the inability of the 99% to increase their earnings power fast enough to outpace real inflation of the things they actually buy (health care, education, housing), 2) the rapid rise of wealth among the 1% who directly benefit from the asset inflation that comes from QE and low interest rates because the 1% own all of the assets, and 3) the uncontrollable rise of the indebtedness of this country since Congress can run deficits with impunity due to low costs of borrowing due to the Fed.

Capitalism is not the root cause. Properly regulated capitalism is the greatest wealth creator in history and has lifted more people more broadly across all economic strata out of poverty than any economic system in the history of the world. Socialism has a 100% track record of not only economic destruction, but also the mass murder of over 100 million people.

Anecdotally, I have a friend who lives in Canada. I called her recently to ask her how she's doing and she told me she had a hernia that needed repair, but the Canadian Socialist health care system put her on a waiting list for 2 years. So she's flying to Mexico to get the procedure done for $2,000 out of her own pocket. This is a very frequent occurrence in other Socialist health care systems like that in the UK and the Nordic countries. You never hear about that from the progressives, because they don't want you to know what it's really like.

The answer to what you really want and what I really want is capitalism, which means we'd need to END the Fed and destroy Socialism and Fascism in this country. We need truly free market health care to drive outcomes up and costs down. We also need truly free markets in university education for the same reason, which means getting the Feds out of the student loan markets, which is the proximate cause of rising college costs.

Having said all that, you are going to get your pick, Warren, for the nomination. I think she perfectly represents the left in all their glory now. I don't know if she can beat Trump, though. I think the moderates and center in this country are afraid of how radical the progressives are and Socialism still has a very bad name in this country. After all, we did fight two world wars to defeat Socialism and Communism. It's too bad so many people have forgotten the lessons of history.

Anyway, I don't believe I will convince you of anything. I understand that and I don't hate you for it. You have a right to your opinions. I still believe that. However, I have known too many Latin Americans in my life and have had too much experience with Socialism in all its forms and one thing I know for certain. Those who live under Socialism are always looking for a way to get away from it. Most never do, because they don't have the resources to escape. You will get your socialism here in the US, if not with Warren, then most definitely in the 2024 election, when some Socialist candidate is elected. I am 100% certain that when you finally get what you want here in the US, you will realize your mistake then and then you will realize that I was right when I fingered the Federal Reserve, Fascism, and corruption in Congress as the real root causes of the cancer in this country. Capitalism and Democracy are never the root causes of these kinds of things, because those systems are natural systems that come from humans freely interacting with each other with no interference from elites in power. This is the real lesson.
