The Watergate Era has ended In an exchange in which Chuck Todd repeatedly interrupted Republican Senator Ron Johnson after every three words, the truth came out. The exchange: TODD: --do you not trust the FBI? JOHNSON: --want the truth. TODD: You don't trust the CIA? I'm-- JOHNSON: No, no I don't-- TODD: --I'm just very confused here. JOHNSON: Absolutely not--The Watergate Era has ended. Roll over, Bob Woodward, and tell Carl Bernstein the news. After 50-plus years, Republicans no longer fear the media, and they no longer fear the Deep State. The two have gone after Republican presidents relentlessly since Nixon. After Nixon passed Mark Felt over for FBI director, Felt went to Ben Bradlee to create the Watergate witch hunt. The media and the Deep State saddled Reagan, both Bushes, and President Donald John Trump with witch hunts that led to a few insignificant indictments and sadly convictions of people way down the political food chain. Nevertheless, the message was sent. The Ken Starr investigation was just as bad. In retrospect, the impeachment was wrong and resulted in Republicans losing a visionary leader when they forced Newt Gingrich out as House speaker. But Carter and Obama were spared. They played patty cake with the Deep State and the media. Chuck Schumer thought the media and Deep State would do President Trump in. 17 days before the inauguration. Schumer declared, "Let me tell you: You take on the intelligence community — they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you." After going on record like that, Schumer cannot deny that America's spies and FBI are out to get the man Americans dared elect president. They spied on him when he was running -- without probable cause. They tried to set him up. President Trump is not afraid of the big bad wolf. And fear is all these bullies have.
