Acquisition of Artefact Informatique Inc. JANUARY 22, 1998
LGS Adds to its Expertise in the Health Field by Buying Quebec-Based Artefact
MONTREAL, QUEBEC--LGS Group Inc. is pleased to announce that it has acquired Artefact Informatique Inc., a Quebec City firm active in clinical and administrative systems for outpatients and management of home care processes for the caregivers involved. The transaction is subject to approval by regulatory authorities.
Created in 1993, Artefact, which will continue to operate under its current name, has 17 employees and provides consulting, development and integration services. The company is expected to generate approximately $1.3 million in revenue during their current fiscal year. Principally serving CLSC's (Community Centers for Health and Social Services), Artefact should see a considerable increase of their clientele with the shift to outpatient and home care.
According to its President, Christian Daigle, "this association with LGS, with its breadth of expertise, will allow Artefact to attack the market more aggressively and grow more rapidly."
Following the Board of Directors' decision to ratify this acquisition, Raymond Lafontaine, President of LGS, declared that "the health care sector is undergoing profound changes in its business processes, a situation which will call for a major upgrade of information management systems. Already offering solutions of this nature to hospitals, LGS will now provide the necessary solutions to serve health care centers such as CLSC's in addition to its existing solutions for hospital management. The acquisition enhances our existing health care business and broadens our spectrum of services in the health care market. Now offering a complete range of effective solutions, LGS is better positioned to gain a significant part of the health care market, one of the company's principal areas of focus in its corporate growth strategy."
