Hi Koan, long time no talk. Actually, my favorite Democratic candidate is Tulsi Gabbard. I think she is the one who has not succumbed to utopian fantasy thinking. But as a result of being a moderate left leaning Democrat, she'll never get nominated, because the Democrats today want a Socialist and Warren fits the bill beautifully. My bet is on her.
As to the maturity curve of all countries, they typically go like this:
- Countries start with a strongman that leads to security and Dictatorship/Kingdom =>
- As the people evolve, they get tired of the lack of freedom and the constant abuses, so they start a Revolution to install Democracy/Republic/Parliament+Capitalism =>
- After becoming wealthy, because those systems usually produce a lot of prosperity for everyone, the problem is that elected officials eventually become corrupt and the rich/poor divide accelerates and eventually do-gooders decide they need an alternative to Capitalism, so they implement Socialism =>
- Socialism requires new laws and enforcement mechanism to steal from one group to give to another, or to redistribute the wealth, so freedom is the collateral damage. Central Economic Planners like the Fed are established to pretend to help the 99%, but they end up further enriching the 1%, which infuriates the 99%, who then demand more redistribution and that can only be accomplished when the government takes over the means of production and the Fed will help with this, which leads to Communism =>
- With total control over the economy and the people in a Communist government, eventually, they realize that elections are superfluous and the take a paternalistic view of the masses. So the 1% vote themselves a leader for life, which means we've arrived back to Dictatorship/Kingdom =>
- ...and then the cycle starts again with a new Revolution.
Right now, the US is devolving from a Republic into Socialism. The transformation is almost 50% complete already. The next Socialist President will make a giant leap forward in Socialism and get us to 75% or more. Then as the Fed starts buying up stocks with QE and that is combined with a Socialist government, our government will realize they own a lot of US companies, which will lead us to Communism. Then Communism will look a little like China and we'll have things like a Social Credit Score that enslaves us, just like China, and eventually we'll get our Dictator. Then it may be another 100 years before we find a way to have a revolution to restore our freedom again. Or maybe this is the final cycle, because with AI and technology, it may become impossible to rebel against Totalitarianism ever again. So maybe we're watching the final cycle of freedom, Democracy, and Capitalism disappear. Maybe we'll see it disappear in our lifetimes. Most probably, our kids will see it come to fruition.
Who are you going to vote for? Warren? BTW, I will vote from Trump again, but I do like it that the Democrats are trying to overturn Citizens United and make sure that Corporations are not treated like people. I think those two concepts are ruinous to a Democracy and to our Freedom of Speech, as we've seen with the wholesale assault on speech by the Social Media companies. |
