I am behind on putting the garden to bed for the winter because I have been laid up with a nasty virus that is going around, but tonight's forecast forced me to spring, well, totter into action.

Winter has arrived on the We(s)t Coast a month ahead of schedule with the threat of freezing temperatures tonight, so I picked all the remaining basil and tomatoes. I left the basil plants standing because if we get another spell of warm weather they will push out another set of leaves. I also left the beans as they are still growing and blooming and it might not get cold enough to kill the plants off.

And I saw my brussels sprouts are getting very close to being ready for harvest. Still getting a few blackberries too, but the raspberries are done, and it doesn't look like the second fig crop will get a chance to ripen..
