Buck...it looks like alot of the semi companies reporting earnings just barely made their numbers. Thank god they had backlogs that they could manipulate. However, now that orders are slowing the flexibility in the backlog is also tightening up, I expect next quarter to be sequentially lower. The quarter after that should be weak too. Just like 1996.

As expected most of the companies have come out with warnings as they move ahead in 1998. We should see some downward earnings revisions fairly soon (after the MM's sell). I think LRCX's numbers have been whacked big time for 1998 and they also said that this is a several quarter problem and not just a quarter slowdown. AMAT earnings are next month, I expect them to meet estimates but then throw in alot of cautious words.

I think you will get a chance to buy all the AMAT you want below $30.
