The issue raised by WR was that the power cuts effected gasoline cars as much as electric cars. I guess both types of cars can be fixed with a generator, but power cuts are easier with gasoline cars and less generators are needed. Well humans have advanced beyond the "stone age" rubbing two sticks together or have you not noticed? We don't need petrol anymore. A finite, declining resource. And it pollutes! No need for that, just photons falling on your head! Clean, sustainable and almost infinite. 5 Billion years... No grid required. You seem to be stuck in the past.....
