Adam Schiff Just Debunked The Biggest GOP Lie On Trump Impeachment

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) debunked the big Republican lie that impeachment is being done in secret without Republican involvement.


Schiff wrote in an update to his House colleagues on the impeachment investigation:

In each session, I have made an opening statement, and offered the same opportunity to a Member designated by the minority. Questions have been primarily asked by committee counsels for both the majority and the minority, but also by Members of both parties. And the majority and minority have been provided equal staff representation and time to question witnesses, who have stayed until the majority and the minority have asked all of their questions – often late into the evening.

It is necessary to point this out, because the President and his allies have made the false claim that GOP members and staff have been precluded from attending or asking questions — nothing could be further from the truth.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) was kicked out of Fiona Hill’s interview because he is not a member of any of the three committees that are participating in the impeachment investigation. Another Trump defender, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) has been spreading lies about how Democrats are conducting the impeachment investigation in the House basement without Republican participation.

For his part, Trump seems to think that the impeachment investigation is a trial, and keeps asking to question witnesses.

The idea that Republicans aren’t involved in the impeachment process is a big lie, and Adam Schiff just called them out on it in black and white.
