I was referring to a pure electric car vs an ICE one when comes to cost for energy to go down the road. Not the cost of the car.
You can't just discount the cost of the car when it itself is a depreciating asset.

What good is it to say, "See, I pay nothing for gas!" when you're down $50,000 from buying a Tesla in the first place? All you did is pay $50,000 to virtue-signal.

Why don't you try to convince me that I'll actually end up saving money if I get a Tesla? I genuinely want one, but not because it's cheaper, but because it has a nice ride.
