I believe you can get a lot of performance bang for the buck with a UW-SCSI drive, even considering the price. If the idea of this machine is to take in and save real-time market data, a UW-SCSI drive may be critical to your satisfaction. I've not used this board, but the Supermicro P6DLS has the 2940UW controller on the m-board. I've neither used it nor compared it to the Tyan board you've spec'd out (it does support dual PIIs). sagelec.com The SAG Electronics site may be of interest to you. They have a good reputation for building to order with high quality parts. They also have an on-line configuation & pricing system.
