The Market fell apart during Watergate. '73-'74 was brutal, if I recall correctly the Dow fell below 400 from its 1971 high of around 1000. Part of the reason was that foreign investors panicked as Nixon was driven from office; but then we also had the first OPEC oil shock at the same time, so who knows how much the political situation contributed to the bear market back then. I'll guess that tossing Clinton out will again scare foreign investors; so, you have Asia, and Europe will soon have its own currency crisis as they switch over to the ECU; should be a really nasty bear market in my estimation. I'm looking at some short funds.
