How about to see a molecule of CO2 intercepting IR radiation and running it all the way back to the earth's surface?

Yeah I can see that... along with a water molecule too ... only a lot better, especially in liquid or solid form..

and of course if a similar ray hits it from the other side... off it goes back out into space.... away to the stars...
