Well, we'll see. We have a very strange mixture in this country. We have all three: fascism, communism, and socialism. Hear me out. * Fascism - It can't be denied that we have fascism, because our corporations rule the Congressional roost, they have captured our regulatory bodies, lobbyists massively influence Congress, the tech companies get away with murder in their censorship of free speech, and they have Citizens United which makes corporations people and gives them unlimited funds to fund their favorite politicians through dark pool Political Action Committees. Our Military Industrial Complex is one giant engine for siphoning productive money out of society to fund the companies that make weapons of war and any attempt to roll that back gets killed as quickly as possible...check out the latest hubbub on Trump's Syria pullout. * Communism - One of the planks of the Communist Manifesto states as follows: “Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly.” Quite literally Communism calls for the establishment of a central bank. On the other hand, the Article 1 Section 8 of the US Constitution only gave Congress the following power: “coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures.” Our founders envisioned a Capitalist economy with limited government interference in economic affairs, but only to the extent to set the price of money to keep it stable to enable commerce and savings to function as capital creation for the better of society. Instead, we implemented a Central Bank called the Federal Reserve, which not only sets the price of money, they monetize debt, print money to finance the deficits and to prop up asset prices, and otherwise centrally plan the US economy. Quite literally, they implemented one plank of the Communist Manifesto. * Socialism - we have Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and Obamacare. Those entitlements alone are massive non-discretionary Socialist programs.
So in summary, I think you must agree that we are a mixture of all 3 and all 3 are expanding at an accelerating pace, even as they encroach on and smother what remains of Capitalism in this country. |
