The other day I was thinking about the Big Reds a.k.a Sequoia trees of California. They are truly majestic things. A 200 year old tree is still considered a baby and can live for over 2000 years. But what I was thinking of was not their lives, but their deaths. Long after a Redwood tree has fallen and is dead, it maintains its majesty and continues to look alive an vibrant. Except that its roots are exposed and is falling to disarray, albeit slowly.

I am not sure when the death certificate for the American Century will be issued, but I am pretty sure that future historians will date it back to some time during GW years, and possibly the Newt Gingrich haydays. Trump is just exposing the rotting corpse...kinda like Yeltsin did for Russia.

I am not happy about this one bit, but I don't think there is much that anyone can do about it. As bad luck would have it, we will also be facing a period analogous to the 1930s. You can read more about the why of that from Ray Dalio.
