Deustche Morgan Grenfell analyst Michael Young has reduced his 1998
earnings forecasts for all U.S. oil majors except for Mobil Corp
[NYSE:MOB] after the bank reduced its 1998 West Texas Intermediate
crude price forecast to $18.00 from $19.00.

Young said in a research report that his estimates remain significantly
below consensus, ''which suggests more pain to come for oil shares''.

Company New 1998 Old 1998
Amoco Corp $4.55 $4.75
ARCO $4.20 $4.85
Chevron Corp $4.00 $4.25
Exxon Corp $2.70 $2.85
Mobil Corp $3.90 $3.90
Occidental Pete $1.60 $1.70
Pennzoil Co $3.85 $4.15
Texaco Inc $2.95 $3.15
Unocal Corp $1.85 $2.10
