Good point, MrB. Obviously there are times when it would be necessary to be able to lie convincingly in matters of National security. But the Pentagon Dept of Public Affairs? What I'm saying is, I thought (perhaps I'm naive) that we are an "open society", in that our government admits our mistakes, etc. Isn't lying to the public one of the things "we" have long criticized the Communist Govts of doing? Cover-ups, etc., of embarrassing military botches, etc?

So what I'm saying, is these revelations provide fuel to "conspiracy theorist" type of people who are still convinced for example that OUR MILITARY "accidently" shot down TWA flight 800, *but* won't admit it?

How about "delusional", a word being used by top Govt officials to possibly describe Ms. Lewinsky? Is delusional another good qualification to have in order to work in the Pentagon, at age 24? No matter how this is explained, it stinks. Why did Vernon Jordan help a delusional 24 year old get a $30K+ job in the Pentagon??? Inquiring minds are wondering just what is going on back there in DC, where they're supposed to be running the country. We're paying these people to do a job.
