3bar, I was having a related discussion with smashomash on fb...my thought is: It's well within the realm of possibility that "the pause" of warming over the last 20 years was the oceans giving up latent heat, staving off global cooling (that would have begun had the world no oceans) as the sunspot cycles began weakening in earnest then.

The last 3 yrs. have shown cooling.
Latent ocean heat.....not helping enough any more."
