Fortunately potatoes store well...

It is not birds stealing the eggshells, as I have crushed them into tiny bits and sometimes even rake them in. It is either a chemical process or wee beasties from in the soil.

I have been using eggshells to prevent blossom end rot in my tomatoes for years, as long as they are getting watered properly, that little extra shot of calcium does the trick.

It has been interesting starting to post on this board. Only now do I realize how much expertise and knowledge I have picked up in my 30 years of serious gardening.
