Two reasons.

(a) The USA is still influential and one of the best examples of what a free & open democratic society can do. It's no longer the manufacturing behemoth it once used to be, but the USA is a source of business and manufacturing excellence.

(b) I used to live in the usa, many happy memories, and I am concerned about the worldwide erosion of peoples rights. I don't like how those erosion of rights has been achieved. The UK has been complicit too of course. Typical Americans are good allies in respect of reversing that trend imho. The problems there are the problems here too. There is some stuff that needs straightening out.
