10/25/2019 Contest update
Biotechs got a lift this week as President Trump discovered a new disease target, “human scum.” However, it’s questionable whether the afflicted population Trump identified, “Never Trumper Republicans,” is large enough for a drug to be profitable.
Meanwhile, at Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 10.47% YTD (vs. up 6.57% a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 8.91% YTD (vs. up 5.59% a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 12.89% YTD (vs. up 9.14% a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) was up 24.93% YTD (vs. up 21.92% YTD a week ago).
Bulba’s portfolio, up 61.90% YTD, remains Contest King but both second place, HOOD’s portfolio, up 61.10% YTD, and third place, OHMS’s portfolio, up 60.64% YTD, are clearly poised to storm the King’s castle and seize the Crown.
At Friday's close, 29 of the 39 Contest portfolios were in the green, while 20 were beating the NBI and 17 were beating the SPSIBI.
The 167 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 12.85% and a median YTD loss of -2.11%.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: None.
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits & mergers, greatly appreciated.)
Enjoy a safe and fire-free weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
