China could really upend USA in technology ... 5G already, Blockchain technology and Quantum Computer next. They have extra incentive in the bitcoin area as its arrival means the end of USD. Trump may have started China trade war to protect US intellectual property, but I think its too late already. China can compete with USA, Japan, Korea ... in high tech R&D. They have human capital and the R&D infrastructure. The closed minded Republican public and the Washington Republican politicians are the biggest enemy going forward in the high tech competition. Even the climate change, Trump and Republicans messed up the golden opportunity the US had in developing the green technology and to become the dominant player in this inevitable area. Republicans thoroughly destroyed the opportunity. Climate deniers made the USA lose the golden chance to become the world leader. Now, all Japanese car makers and Korean carmakers are running toward the finish line for the electric cars. US will be a minor player again. US will make a similar mistake in bitcoin. Republicans and evangelical conservatives who are rapists and gun proponents will permanently ruin the USA in the coming century. USA no longer the leader of the world.
