jg- What is this "wake up" baloney? Opinion, opinion. I think I'm probably more awake than most because I admit that its a full-time job just leading my own life with any degree of self-knowledge and integrity and wouldn't presume to claim to know how others should lead theirs. I was extremely careful to avoid making a public personal value judgment on Clinton's sexual behavior. My point was that American culture does have in place generally accepted rules of behavior-and that he is extremely stupid to ignore these. The legal ramifications I leave to the committees and the courts. <<Judge him on his job in the Oval Office>> It is idealistic to think this is possible. Rightly or not, he will also be judged on his character and his actions. And he has cheapened himself and his Presidency with these situations. Do you really equate what he is being accused of to simple and mature "sexual expression"??? Don't you believe that beyond our own beliefs and needs we have commitments and responsibilities for others and the effect our behaviors might have on them? What did intrigue me because of a book I just finished was your statement that sexual mores are used to control society. However, there are too many posts here right now! Maybe it could be a side discussion on DAR. ALso your point about "allowing" ourselves to be placed in straitjackets--I'm glad you used that particular word, because we do still have choices in our lives.
