You think it is a moot point to explain why one believes what they do? I think it is a good thing to explain what one believes and why. It would be good if more people could explain why they are democrats or liberals, moderates or conservatives.

That would show they have put some thought into it and also be able to defend their positions. In a democracy that is crucial.

I know in the past you have said my posts are too long. Life is complex and often requires complex explanations. Simple answers to complex issues are often wrong. And things like kindness, open mindedness and helping are complex subjects that are too often seen as simple.

You and I are both liberals, and both generally Democrats, but we have very different philosophies of life.

I think developing a philosophy of life is one of the most important things a person can do, and explaining why one believes what they do, gives validity to their beliefs and helps everyone grow, including the poster.

And I don't need a lecture from you on what to post.

The thread header says it is "generally": for Democrats and people with liberal or moderate views.

There are many people who visit this thread who are not liberals, or democrats.

My posts are aimed generally at them, but as well, many Democrats have their own reasons for being a Democrat.

I was explaining mine.
