Record high temperature for Anchorage

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Another day for the record books.

Anchorage broke its record high temperature by hitting 54 degrees (as of 3:45 p.m. Monday).

The previous record was 52 degrees Fahrenheit set in 2013. The new high set today was a whopping 20 degrees above the historic average high for this date of 34 degrees.

Anchorage also saw a record high minimum temperature for the day.

The coldest official temperature overnight was 42 degrees. The previous record high minimum temperature was 39 degrees in 1970. The average low for this time of year is 23 degrees.
