Dear Dave: All I say is stick to the facts and you're better off. It's up to the individual speculator how they want to play any given deal. But if you're being fed B.S. and not genuine content then you're in a weaker position from which to make investment decisions. We all know that the rounders in the stock market know how to make stocks fly and a lot of legitimate mining or high-tech types can't get their stocks off the ground. That's the sometimes bizarre reality of the penny stock game. Of course, it's like musical chairs -- if a stock is going up on air or some market games, rather than any intrinsic value based upon drilling, production etc. results, then, almost inevitably, for every winner there's more than one loser. Most people just want to make sure it's not them left holding the paper if the music stops. There's no doubt that some people are grateful to Frank THE GURU! for making them money. But he's not capable of really multiplying fishes and loaves so there's going to be a reckoning some day. I came to SI because it offered a more intelligent brand of discussion of junior stocks than one finds on the newsgroups. THE GURU!'s unrelenting HYPE is his business. But his being a bully and abusive (again, check out his infantile attacks on Tom Smith, calling him an idiot etc. for voicing his opinion) should not be welcomed by any of us. What do you think? Factual content, reasoned analysis and honest opinions (whichever way they go) are some of the positives of SI discussions. Abusive heckling and mindless mud-slinging are among the low points.
Stock-hyping without substance is an expected part of the game. Still, a little reality now and again never hurts...
As regards the question about Stockwatch data, yes, by checking out the "market summary", "navigator" and company news sections of Stockwatch you can do almost all of this due diligence yourself. This info, however, is not part of the free charts etc. so you'll need more play money or an account to get at it.
Good luck to all.
