I think it is very important to understand WHY anyone believes certain things. I am with your grandma on not caring how the switches work, but understanding things like why democracy is important or "social planning" is a different barrel of fish.

And the problem is profound e.g. as Chris Hays once said: if you drill down to the bedrock of the Republican party they don't believe in "democracy". I agree with him and it is a serious problem only education can repair.

Tone should not matter to you. The information should matter. If you know what they are saying, Just ignore it, if you don't know, learn from it, and if you disagree, challenge it if you want.

But it is good to hear things we know as it establishes it in our brains better. As a professor of mine once said: "we learn to relearn".

But getting upset because I post stuff some people already know makes no sense. First I am sure both you and Elpolvo don't know everything I post (and I don't know what you know) , and two, there are a lot of people who read these posts who don't post and no one knows who they are, and three, how do you or Elpolvo know what everyone knows who does post.?

And if I drive you nuts, put me on ignore :)>!

koan... not your opinions.. You know I mostly agree with you.. (except on multi party :)) .. I am talking about delivery.. tone... hence the Moses reference..

You know among other things I suffer .. especially in the 3D world to over explain... for example.. I did some rewiring at our chalet which was not up to modern code.. had to be addressed as we are renovating the kitchen.. All my 81 year old mother needed to know was that a light fixture I had installed was controlled by a two switch... and where the switches were.. I fell into explaining how the two way switches actually worked... she drifted off long before I got to three way.. not a perfect analogy.. but close enough for government work ... I have to watch this failing of mine with clients also... They appreciate the reasoning ... but not a mega dose :))
