Border Collies are absolutely amazing dogs but only if they are “put to work” / get the exercise they need.

We have a really sad example next door. He was a great puppy which we (our dogs included) spent a lot of time with in the early days. Backyard play, walks etc.

After the initial euphoria the owners lost interest in the dog / turned him into a replica of them themselves ... Fat and lazy couch potatoes.

Now the dog is 5 years old, probably 20 lbs overweight and hostile to dogs and humans.

A sad but classic example of the wrong breed for the wrong people.
