It amuses me that you do many things like me. Such as self insurance. Also I agree with this = I am more safe having a safety mindset than buying insurance or using personal protective equipment.
It is the safety mindset that avoids accidents and deaths


But I like car seat belts and motorbike crash helmets and steel capped safety shoes and sun glasses. Gloves too for some things. But I used to build scaffolding 10 stories up with no harnesses and stuff. Just bare feet, shorts and tee shirt. Those were the good old days. Now if scaffolding I would wear sunglasses and sun hat too. And sunscreen on the back of my hands. But I'm scared of heights now so no scaffolding for me. Not as strong or quick, nor as agile.
