" what if nature does not play nice, and doesn't continue warming, and we are at the top of the temperature market (cycle) and we go into a possible rapid cooling phase. How should the world prepare then?"

We could burn the remaining fossil fuels. What would be the cause of your scenario? Nuclear winter? A super volcano? Killer asteroid? The disappearance of the sun?

"It assumes that AGW is the only and biggest problem we have"
Nuclear war is of the same magnitude, as is a killer asteroid, and maybe a global pandemic. Smaller problems include pretty much everything from unemployment to the cost of education to election security and parking at the next Super Bowl.

"Or do things always go up... Are we in a fiat temperature universe?"
No and no.

"There is some indications in the temperature record that things could go down from here."
"Some" and "could go" are very vague terms. There is nothing in the scientific literature which supports that theory.

"There might be places in the world that need to transition to fossil first"
