Even so I am troubled over the calls by Democrats for Facebook and others to follow the example of Twitter.
Especially when Trump and his voters have been tarred from the beginning as 'destroyers of democracy.'

In that same vein, today I read the reader comments to the NYT editorial. It was backing higher taxes and critical of comments made recently by Bill Gates and I was OK with the points laid out in the editorial. What bothered me was how many readers used this phrase: Income inequality is not compatible with democracy. Income inequality is not compatible with a lot of things, but I found it odd that democracy itself was one of them. I spent several minutes trying figure out how those people were reaching that conclusion, what could be behind that notion. Still puzzled and still bothered by it.
