And I think most people realize it.

A subject of an investigation does not get to decide whether or not it is a witch hunt or sham, although, of course, he's entitled to his opinion. If the investigating entity has the authority to investigate and operates within legal constraints, it's a real investigation.

A subject of an investigation has no control over the process except, perhaps, that he may be able to negotiate some considerations. A subject of an investigation cannon call witnesses although he can suggest them to the investigators or suggest to them that they make public statements.

The world doesn't work that way. And one would think that virtually everyone knows that.
