You just got a post that refuted your global warming thermometer statement. There is considerable disagreement about all the thermometer data. Pooled together by certain agencies with proven agendas, it appears to show one thing, but when you look at the individual stations, or raw data, opposite conclusions are reached.
It is clear it has been a lot warmer in the past, so there is no cause for concern, but we are constantly told the world is burning up and ending.
Many areas of the globe are starting to cool now. You have to read the evidence in my previous post and search through the literature. The earth is a warped ball and different parts of the globe get more or less exposure to the sun depending on many conditions. Global warming alarmists never talk about evidence that is counter to their theories of global warming. They act to suppress it and they take actions against the people that provide it. Humans have taken these kinds of actions for many other reasons for millenia. Religion is proof of this today.
My background is a lot of chemistry (including theoretical), biology, statistics and business. I spent a year in engineering but preferred basic science. Statisticians see no evidence of statistically significant warming in the raw thermometer data, unless it is adjusted. Thermodynamic equations and chemical evidence (spectra absorption and emission) prove there is no evidence or justification that the small amounts of CO2 humans produce, has any effect on warming the planet. H2O is the main agent of such temperature effects, but its effects on warming and cooling are far more complex than reported by the news media. It is clear that clouds can cool the land and atmosphere by blocking solar irradiation. By far the biggest thing warming the atmosphere and surface of the earth is emissions of radiation and particles from the sun that hit the earth's surface and then radiate back from the surface to heat the atmosphere. There are physical laws that govern how much warmth we get from the sun and they are related to distance from the sun and chemical and physical composition of surfaces the sun irradiates. Our atmosphere of gasses acts more as a blanket, slowing warmth radiation dissipating out into outer space.
I have spent thousands of hours researching these issues. You cannot make proper conclusions if you rely on the popular media reports. The truth is found in the science literature, but you are going to have to spend a lot more time on this to become sufficiently educated to understand. Contrary to the popular press, the debate about climate is far from settled. Engineering applies proven principles and laws to come to conclusions, so we can build things that work and don't fail. Science is far more messier, especially in such topics as complex, and poorly understood, as climate. The history of science is replete with thousands of examples of such arguments between scientists.
I believe that two facts are clear and proven. It has been a whole lot warmer in the past, and there has been a whole lot more CO2 in the atmosphere in the past, and life flourished during these warm periods with higher CO2 levels. Life does not fluourish in colder periods, or periods with low CO2.
Something to consider is that CO2 levels in a restaurant or other public place can be as high as 2000ppm yet we survive such encounters. Plants grow very well in these conditions, as long as they get adequate sunshine and water. |
