Either the world has been warming up or there is a massive global conspiracy going on. You can't have it both ways, because if the world is really warming up then there is no need for a conspiracy.
Now if you do believe that there is no global warming, then there is no reason to believe sunspots have any effect on the Earth. And you have to wonder where all the arctic ice has gone, or why the US military actually states global warming as a security threat and is preparing contingency plans, or why the weather events have been getting more extreme, and so on and so forth.
Choose a side and make a clear position statement. It should say as to (1) whether or not there is a global warming, and (2) How long the trend will continue and when will it reverse.
Like any other scientific hypothesis, there needs to be a clear statement or facts, a theory that explains the facts *and* predicts the future, and a way to disprove it. For example, if two moving bodies hit each other and I make accurate measurement of their mass and velocity, then I am in a position to either (a) confirm conservation of momentum, or (b) disprove it by showing that the theory did not accurately predict the course of events.
Similarly, you can state that the warming is due to sunspots and once the new cycle begins we will see the arctic ice return and weather change...or whatever. And then we can test it. |
