Politics (democracy) and social science are the very foundation of our modern humanitarian society.

Taxes are the cost of civilization.

You don't even seem to understand the basics of what makes for a good society.

Before we had the modern social safety net, life was hell for people and mostly old females who too often lived in abject poverty.

Your philosophy is the Republican philosophy.

Wharf: You would have people go to government for other people's money, so that you don't have to give to charities. Are you even paying taxes any more, or just collecting SS?.Anyway, there are places for government, the private sector, and charitable organizations. I don't much care whether the government gives a family a housing voucher, or a Christian plutocratic oligarch gives the Carters and HFH money to build a house to give to a homeless family..
